Well, I guess you could say that my DisneyPhile mania began with a trip to Memphis, TN. Well almost. My parents had planned a trip for our family to visit Memphis in the summer of 1977. My father decided that his 9 and 7-year-old children would probably have preferred to visit The Happiest Place on Earth instead. So in August (yes, I did say August!)of 1977 we made our way to Walt Disney World! Boy he was right about that!
As a child, we spent our family vacations in Walt Disney World every year. I can still remember some of the childhood memories that I will always treasure while vacationing with my family in Central Florida. The Carousel of Progress was my favorite relaxing ride (and still is today!). Where else could we sit in air conditioning while learning about “A great big beautiful tomorrow, shining at the end of every day”? Or taking off on a space journey on Space Mountain? Or maybe having an entertaining time at the Luau at the Polynesian Hotel? Or how about running about the Seven Seas Lagoon in a water-sprite boat? Yes, those were good times spent with family.
As an adult, I have been able to build on those memories of yesteryear with my own family. In August of 2002, we became Disney Vacation Club Members. I still remember the very first time my daughter Karlynn laid eyes on that beautiful castle at the end of Main Street, USA. It truly brought tears to my eyes. She was FINALLY in the land of her very favorite Princess, Cinderella. Each year my family and I travel back to the Magic. We have stayed at a variety of hotels and have experienced a lot of Magic; from Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, the EPCOT Food and Wine Festival and who can forget the Pirate and Princess outings that we have had. Each time we visit, we find new and amazing things to see and do. I was even able to surprise my husband with a birthday trip this year! It was hard to keep it a secret for long, but I made sure he experienced numerous magical moments while we were there. Everywhere we went someone was wishing him a happy birthday. He was even serenaded on Main Street!
As “The Disney Expert” in my circle of friends, I have been called upon to help my friends plan wonderful Magical vacations. I have been told that when someone asks me a Disney related question that my face instantly lights up and I just can’t stop sharing all of my experiences!
It’s very rewarding when they come home to tell me of their Magical Time in Disney and thank me for helping plan their trip with experience and plenty of tip suggestions. I have planned first time trips for a family of 4 as well as personal family trips with friends as a group of 8 to 10! I love to suggest restaurants that we have enjoyed, Le Cellier, being one of my favorites. Like things a little more down home, how about the Prime Time Cafe, where the pot roast is out of this world! Is quick service dining, your thing, then a visit to Wolfgang Puck’s in Downtown Disney is a MUST! Like Pooh and the Gang, be sure to hit the Crystal Palace! I can honestly say that I’ve eaten at a majority of the Disney Restaurants and feel confident recommending them.
I think Walt Disney himself expressed it perfectly when he said, “All our dreams can come true if we have the courage to pursue them.” How can I assist you with your Magical and Memorable Disney Destination vacation?
